Developing Workforce Development and Youth Training

OOC is encouraging, training, and exposing the potential workforce to the blue food economy, while making it a viable career pathway for Coastal residents.

5-year Goal

Twenty high school programs deliver blue food training programs to 1000 students annually.

Activities

  • Assess what training programs are in existence and identify how to integrate blue food training.

  • Where gaps are identified, pilot programs that demonstrate successful strategies and then pass them to the appropriate institutions to run.

  • Expand the Seafood Butchery Program to reach schools along the Oregon Coast and expand to inland regions.

  • Identify and develop community education pilots in partnership with a community college.
